    Quality for college

While pursuing my education, I've tried an array of sorts of mechanical pencils and lead sizes. The Twist Erase GT QE207 is so soft to hold and is perfect for drawing schematics to solving page-sized calculus problems all day. The twist feature is perfect for college.

    Love at first twist!

This is the best refillable pencil I have ever used!! I am a college student, and I go through pens and pencils like nobody's business. I have several types of pens that are my "favorites," but until now I had not found a pencil that I really like. I absolutely LOVE this pencil!! I write a lot, and pencil lead usually breaks on me pretty frequently. This lead has not broken on me even once. The twist-up eraser is amazing because it lasts longer and erases cleaner than other pencil erasers I have used, and it eliminates the need for me to carry block erasers with me all the time. The lead writes so smoothly that I want to use this pencil for everything now. My favorite part is the ribbed, rubbery grip. It feels great between your fingers and even makes a cool sound when you drag your nail down it :)

Comfortable grip, great eraser, smooth-writing lead

I've been using an old Papermate Platinum 0.5 pencil, and I got this (and a Sharp P-209) just to see if I'd like the wider lines. I've been having a lot of arthritis pain in my hands, plus some other problems. I went in looking for a Dr. Grip or something like it, but rejected those as too much of a handful, and I thought the grip cushions would be too soft for good control.

I was looking for something with a side-button like the two vintage Quicker Clickers I have, but I also liked the large twist-up eraser. I dislike tiny erasers.

The first thing I noticed about this pencil was the lead: I was used to the Papermate's formulation of HB, which is noticeably harder than yours. The Pentel writes much darker and with a lot less effort; it has a lubricious feel to it. I had to experiment to be sure, but the Pentel HB has the same feel as the graphite in a Palomino Blackwing that a friend sent me. The quality of the line is very similar, too, very dense, dark, and smooth, in contrast to the Papermate, which now feels stiff and scratchy.

Then I tried the eraser. I wanted to know if yours was as good as the one in my Papermate, which I consider almost magical. Good news: no noticeable difference.

Finally, I really like the feel of the grip on this pencil. The ribbed rubber offers just the right balance of cushion and control, and the barrel diameter is very comfortable for me.

Construction seems to be solid and the lead advance has a firm, positive click to it.

I didn't find everything I wanted in one pencil, but this has a very nice package of features.
