Did you know this week is National Philanthropy Week? Dedicated to giving your time and your resources- philanthropy is a meaningful way to start the holiday season. Year round, we participate in a multitude of philanthropic events. Breast cancer, alzheimers, public school support- these are all topics that are near and dear to our hearts. Last year, Pentel added a new philanthropy to our efforts: Pens For Kids. We are proud to make Pens For Kids an annual Pentel tradition. Dedicated to bringing school children in Africa school supplies, Pens For Kids reinforces the belief that the hope for the future lies within education.
Originally started from tourists visiting the majestic continent of Africa, Pens For Kids is now a non-profit corporation based exclusively on volunteer work. Pens For Kids relies solely on donations of pens and monetary contributions for postage. Their work is awe inspiring. We sent our first shipment of pens in 2009. And shortly after the pens arrived, we received the best holiday gift of all…
These pictures were taken near Mt. Kenya, in Central Kenya. This area is populated by the Kikuyu tribe- the major tribe in Kenya. The school represented in the photograph has over 1000 students! Such beautiful smiles, and a great way for us to start our holiday season.
Our 2010 donation is currently on its way, and we encourage all pen enthusiasts to visit the Pens For Kids website, and donate in any manner you see fit. We would like to wish you and your families the happiest of Thanksgivings.
